Look Good, Feel Good, Do Good.

Visuals matter!

Family parties are hilarious.

Well, preparing for them is hilarious.

My parents house growing up was always very tidy. But, those little projects we would tend to push off… always seemed to get done just minutes before we would have 40 people over for a BBQ.

I don’t think we’re alone in this, but why?

Visuals matter.

People, whether they are visual aficionados or not, enjoy looking at nice things. Viewers notice eye sores, but carry on when things look just.

And wow, the applause you get when your space looks above and beyond!

Pitch Decks are exactly the same.

If you want to just pass over information you can write a paper.

Decks are meant to grab attention, deliver a story and get you funding.

It’s that simple!

Here are our top design tips you can use:

  • Let's not use bullet points. Yes, I too am seeing the irony here…

    • In Decks, bullet points make information look lackluster, unimportant and easy to glance over. Instead:

  • Try some design techniques like the half and half (half your slide being text, the other half images!), text in boxes/columns, or big numbers with breathing room.

  • Headers and subheaders - we chatted last week about this. These are great ways to catch the skimmer and the deep dive reader. It will help focus your slide information too!

  • Create some sort of movement on your slides. Using arrows, dotted lines and shapes can help create a flow for your viewer to follow.

  • Breathing room: You have a lot of information to get into these decks, but ensuring you have some space will allow your reader to digest the materials and see what your big callouts are.

Also - don’t be afraid to look at other decks or pinterest for inspiration.

Like we said - everyone enjoys pretty things, so adding some pizzazz to your deck will never hurt.

See you next week for your check up 🔮
